Chariot of Sun God
This is the Rangavalli representing the Chariot of Sun God. The tradition is, It's made, in front of the thresholds, according to the Lunar Calander on the 7th day of the 11th Month which normally falls in the last week of January or first week of February.
Religiously it is an auspicious time, while geographically it marks the beginning of the change of climate in India when winter completely dies and Sun starts moving closer to Earth or rather Earth starts moving closer to Sun.
Though this is a simple form of Chariot even complex variations of the same are in practice from time immemorial.
